The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is an initiative by the Government of India to promote solar energy in households and provide free electricity up to 300 units per month. This scheme was launched on February 13, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a budget allocation of ₹75,021 crore.
Objective: Install rooftop solar panels on 1 crore households to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month.
Subsidy Details:
60% subsidy for systems up to 2 kW.
40% subsidy for additional capacity between 2 kW to 3 kW.
The maximum subsidy is for up to 3 kW systems:
₹30,000 for 1 kW,
₹60,000 for 2 kW,
₹78,000 for 3 kW or more.
